Why do we use sensors?
- to understand and infer user's status, and then try to use this for better interaction or supports
How can it be utilised in our vision context?
- Our vision fundamentally involve some multitasking situations because human is more centralised in our vision, and they can do more than conventional computing environment, as like dogs escaped from cage.

So, my suggestion is mainly based on utilisation of sensors to support users in multitasking situations naturally.

1) Proactive assistance system can be realised by sensor-based ways not only relying on inputs consciously made by users. In other words, system can monitor user's status (traditional approach) + can detect specific moments for actions (traditional approach) from some experts doing in the domain (traditional approach). Up to here, it sounds a bit tedious because there is no difference with previous approach, however, possible interesting points could be if some expert's knowhow in specific domains for recognition of specific status of other people can be realised in a digital world based on sensing, further, it can be applied to general situation, it would be good to extend our knowledge.
- need to have a lot of interviews, analysis of human behaviour, concrete verification process for knowledge found from research...

2) Some sensing gestures + biology signals can be used for understanding of users more it would be also good to differentiate any depth of user interface or to suggest different level of feedback etc.

ex) If users are in calm situation for detailed or complicated interaction, system can show detailed interface to collect and reflect user's intent, but if not, system show abstract UIs and some thing is covered with voice command or input, something is postponed for input later.

3) Sensing based system can determine suitable interaction technique according to user's situation or emotion status etc.

ex) this is a bit similar with 2) suggestion but a bit different in terms of consideration of emotion. Different persona or different style of haptic feedback can be selected to customised for best interaction based on user's status automatically. Or we can also think to utilise different body parts for interaction based on body temperature through finding the most sensitive parts of body.... or according to posture etc.

The role of sensors in pro-active interactive computing (Shen)

Just think of the above title. Maybe something interesting as a paper title. It seems that one of the major use of sensors is that it can help human to overcome and manage their states. Lot of time, we feel something, but we don't act on it. Of course sometimes, not act on it is good, but other times, not act on it is bad, so sensors can detect such states and try to help us to overcome the psychological barrier to act on it.
