DC vs. Marvel Argumentative Writing Worksheet

After completing various writing excerices, you will be left to write a paragraph of your own. For example, my final graph looks like this:

Some may argue that the plot of every Marvel movie is more fluid and connects with one another. According to hbr.org, "At its best, Marvel Studios provokes an intense interest in characters, plotlines, and entirely new worlds. Its whole universe has the feel of a puzzle that anyone can engage with. Moviegoers become active participants within a larger experience.” Others found that because Marvel movies are connected with one another, Marvel’s movies are more interesting to watch. It piques the audience's interest with the curiosity of how each story would end. However, DC movies are still interesting if the audience watched a movie without any connection to other characters/plots in the DC universe.

Take the Justice League series as an example. This series revolves around how multiple characters from DC work together to solve the world’s problems. If a viewer watches only the Justice League series without understanding the backstory of every character involved in that series, they are still able to enjoy the series. Whereas with Marvel’s Avengers series, viewers must stay up-to-date with previous movies if they want to understand the plot. This reinforces the fact that the DC Comics franchise is better than Marvel.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to view full worksheet: Click me!!
or
Click the image above

“Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice ” according to President Woodrow Wilson. In the historical fiction novel Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, Isabel seems to agree with this idea about loyalty as she vies for her and her sister’s freedom amidst America’s revolutionary war. As the story progresses, Isabel finds herself “chained” to abusive adults and slave owners. Through the experiences Isabel shares with Lady Seymour, Curzon, and her sister Ruth, Isabel learns that the meaning of loyalty is to sacrifice yourself for the sake of another.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to view full essay: Click me!!

I did not enjoy this book, so I wrote a short paragraph writing about the good qualities of the book I found out of the bad qualities:
The characters were the most realistic thing about this book that made it come to life. Although I felt their personality was a bit bland, that’s what made the character realistic. When having business meetings or just hanging out, the characters maintain a casual attitude and realistic feeling through dialogue and imagery.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to document: Click me!!

In an imaginary scenario, you lose your car for a day. Here is a solution I wrote that can achieve the same task a car can fulfill: Because the purpose of cars is to help us travel, we would have to find another way to reach our destinations. We can do this by biking or walking. If travel is not necessary, staying home is also an option.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to view full presentation is in the image above ^^

Her face beams when she talks about Peter, and it makes me a bit relieved that she can have at least one normal thing every teenager should have at her age. I’m worried the war is hurting her deep inside, and as her older sister, I must make sure to take care of her. Anne has a bit of that trait too, the feeling of protection. She said she worries that I’m jealous of her and Peter, but that’s not the case at all.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to full presentation is in the image above ^^

As you analyze the poem, you will find various uses of figurative language, such as symbolism, similes, and metaphors, along with other literary devices that shape the poem. Here is an example of one of my annotations:
The ‘hill’ that is mentioned in the poem seems to symbolize the political, social, and economic problems of the United States. Politicians and citizens of the U.S. must climb this hill, and once we have reached the top we can see our problems have almost been solved.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to view full document: Click me!!
or
Click the image above

About 26 million animals in the United States are used annually for animal testing. This means that millions of animals are being exposed to drugs, toxic chemicals, and diseases every year for the sake of human safety. Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, is a way scientists use animals to ensure the safety of drugs, cosmetics, or surgical methods before revealing them to the public. People look at animal testing from different perspectives; some think it benefits our community, while others believe it is unnecessary to harm these animals. Aside from the research alone, animal testing is unethical because it negatively affects an animal’s life, it does not always produce the best results, and there are more accurate alternatives to animal testing.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Link to view full essay: Click me!!
