One way to support collaboration with others is creating team goals. These goals can be about the centre as a whole, the classroom, staff or curriculum. I think that when we create team goals related to our practice we are promoting the constant development and growth of early years setting, we are ensuring all staff are on the same page and working towards a mutual goal. This can make it easier for colleagues to offer support and suggestion.

I like how this photo captures collaboration, because it showcases that to be successful and create an environment that is inclusive, responsive and more we must work as a team. One educators does not have all the pieces to the puzzle, it takes multiple educator's, perspectives, knowledge and experiences to finish the puzzle.

Mrkonjić, E.

This week learning about collaboration I learned just how necessary it is to collaborate with others. By collaborating with others whether it be family, friends, or colleagues we can gain a lot of insight on the topic of discussion. Collaborating helps us get ideas that we may not have thought about on our own, that could really help us out with things. It helps with our own personal growth as we can learn new things or ways of doing things. Collaborating can be a way for colleagues to support each other through different situations by communicating and coming up with different ideas together.

I use Facebook for insight and collaborating with others by following pages and groups that relate to my job. I follow EA pages where resources are shared that have been helpful to others. I follow UFLI pages where I can also get some helpful resources or tips to help with the program.

I follow the news, and read into things that are related to the education sector. ex. the recent announcement of the changes coming to the kindergarten curriculum, or the school boards changing the PA Days in April to accommodate the solar eclipse that will be happening.

In a field where we support and shape little minds everyday, it is important to collaborate with your co workers. In a field where we are hands on and busy most of the day, we cannot do everything by ourselves, and that’s okay. Collaborating with others, allows us to bounce ideas off of others, creating activities together and sharing activities. Sharing things such as sensory bins/ideas helps other become more creative and to stimulate how they can change/add to an activity and share that info back to other people and the process just continues. Collaboration can also help us as educators to grow and learn in our own journey because it allows us to learn from people who have been in the field a long time doing things, and then learn from also new graduates as learning and how this looks has changed so much.

I used social media as a way for insight into things. I use the following platforms for insight:

Facebook - I follow a sensory bin and ECE group that shares ideas and activities

Tik Tok - on tik tok there are lots of early childhood educators who post activities, new books, different ways to do activities and “teacher tips”

Pinterest - using pinterest I research ideas for crafts, or sensory bins

Another things I use for collaboration is all my co workers and I have a group chat that we use, and in there we post activities we have done, requesting for some help setting up an activity, borrowing materials and creating a program or activity with my co workers.
