Make a basic plan using the 3 Act Structure. Example below:

Global Issue: Effects of War on Young People's Mental Health.

1. SETUP: Beginning, inciting incident and second thoughts...

Opening shot of bomb exploding in war zone. Dramatic narration posing key question: what hope is there for the future if this is all you've known? Cut to shots of wide-eyed children looking fearful. Introduce key literary text: In the Shadow of War by bend Okri. Highlight the trauma and lack of trust affecting the main character during his coming of age, then link to real world examples. Describe the statistics of children growing up in unsafe conditions due to conflict, and pose final thought- what does this mean for future generations?

2. CONFRONTATION: Obstacles, First culmination, Obstacles, Disaster and Crisis

First main character: Sharbat. Growing up in Afghanistan and persecuted for trying to get an education. Highlight the reality of her world- and the fact that to get out, she has to risk her life for something everyone else takes for granted. Expand to discuss the wider political strife, and how girls are used as pawns in the ideological battle within the country. First culmination is a bomb going off outside her school. Sharbat survives, but the trauma is plain to see. Expand to discuss statistical evidence of the number of girls such issues affect world-wide and the potential consequences of another lost generation.

Second main character: Abioye is a young man living in extreme poverty in rural DRC. Close up shot of his face to open. Cut to archive wide-angle footage of the environment- villages, fields, poverty. Security here is limited, and there is the constant threat of abduction. He has friends who have been stolen to be child soldiers, and the trauma is clear to see. Despite this, show short clips of happy children playing to reinforce innocence. Cut to interview with parents- subtitles added. Here, children are viewed as a commodity- indoctrinated to fight the war of adults; their childhood is stolen away. Even simple childhood things like playing with toy guns bring back trauma. Disaster and Crisis: Highlight that two weeks after filming, Abioye was kidnapped along with 45 boys from the village school. At the present time, negotiations are ongoing for their release.

3. RESOLUTION: Expand to discuss the wider implications of the Global Issue and propose solutions.

Need to end on a note of hope. Archive footage of U.N. Peacekeepers, developing schools and a sense of happiness. Suggest mechanisms by which security can be developed, and education can function as a vehicle not only to end the suffering of kids like Sharbat and Abioye (cut to close up of their faces smiling in school- reveal Abioye was released thanks to the work of the U.N. to bring the warring factions to the negotiating table). Propose future solutions- end on CALL TO ACTION.

Make a basic plan using the Classic Structure. Example below:

Global Issue: Effects of War on Young People's Mental Health.

1. EXORDIUM: Hook

Dramatic opening of bomb blast in unnamed city. Children crying. Powerful, sombre music sets the atmosphere.

2. NARRATION: Context or background Information

Introduce the short story, In the Shadow of War. Highlight the role of government soldiers and forces deployed within countries as so-called 'peacekeepers'. Focus on the use of fear and misinformation to keep people in line. Expand to highlight the same reality in three countries which will be explored: Nigeria, Hong Kong, America. Statistical evidence to support.

3. PROPOSITO/PARTITIO: The claim/stance of the argument.

Present case that freedom from oppression should be guaranteed and enforced in international law, and that the current failure to protect the rights of children from exploitation in conflict zones is a mark against all humanity.

4. CONFIRMATIO: Present evidence in support of your argument.

Present 4 key points to reinforce the claim that the world is failing children through statistical evidence:
- U.N. Peacekeeping missions in identified conflict zones in North West and Central Africa have failed to prevent the abduction of some 25,000 children since the 1980's...
- in these zones, education levels amongst girls is the lowest in the world. etc. etc.

For each point, develop and reinforce the expose as to why this is the case. Include interviews with scientists, politicians and experts in the field as required to reinforce ethos and logos.

5. REFUTATIO: credit counterarguments and respond to them.

Whilst it is difficult to argue children shouldn't be protected, use this space to identify complications and challenges which make it far from an easy issue to address- corruption, lack of resources etc. and provide solutions. Provide solutions.

6. PERORATIO: Conclude with call to action in response and highlight the impact on a global scale of doing nothing.

Close up shots of girls with no makeup, turning their face around to show their face full of makeup. Then the a close up shot of a person in front of 3 different devices, will start to zoom out to the bigger picture (setting), which will be someone sitting in the center of the shot surrounded by life and beauty while person just is consumed by what's on their devices. This contrasts what we drive our attention to, to the real importance of life.
Narration:

Fahrenheit 451 was a dystopian Sci fiction novel, however like most dystopian novels through history, as time goes by the fiction in these novels become real, our world is now starting to turn into a dystopia similar to F451 concerning technology consuming us, taking us away from the importance of life, and becoming humans that are more with each other, nature, and their own mental being, than the consuming technology. The people watching this video most likely have a right to live in their home land freely, well who wouldn't right? The answer: Palestinians. Palestine has been stolen, its people subjugated and forced to live under apartheid, by the 'state of israel'. With their freedom and ability to defend themselves stripped away, Palestinians are constantly abused, killed, and bombed by israel, who then reports to the rest of the world that they are the victims.

Will then talk about and show videos of Palestine before the 1948 nakba, display how the nation prospered. Dramatic narration - posing key question (need to think of one). Highlights the trauma/adversity this issue has caused the main character when coming of age, then link to real world examples. NARRATION: Context or background Information

Introduce F451. Highlight how in the book the destruction of culture and individualism is the media and mass media used by everyone in the society. Start to show how that is becoming more and more frequent in todays society through the growth of social media and Hollywood. Introduce the idea of cultural imperialism, what it is and some of the past and history of the issue

3. PROPOSITO/PARTITIO: The claim/stance of the argument.

Present the main issue, that the growth of Hollywood is destroying the integrity and true nature of culture through the expansion of stereotypes and the ‘convenient’ depiction of culture. This impact is becoming more and more prominent in todays society where we are focusing more on the presentation than the information, showing how Hollywood has taken advantage of that

4. CONFIRMATIO: Present evidence in support of your argument.

Present 3 key issues that Hollywood is brining to the table in terms of culture and the spread of stereotypical behaviours (use interviews and statistical evidence):
- How Hollywood has spread hurtful stereotypes in attempt for comedy or other use however this has hurt the actual culture and people (interviews with my peers- pathos
- How Hollywood has changed and shaped culture through the introduction of western ideals and pushing them instead of the culture (interviews with experts- talk to my dad who has written a dissertation on it- ethos)

TBD (logos)

5. REFUTATIO: credit counterarguments and respond to them.

Possibly talking about how Hollywood and social media has allowed the spread of culture from one side of the world go another, making it possible to share your culture with everyone around the world- However Hollywood has started to use stereotypes and has started to perpetuate false culture and that has spread instead due to its popularity

6. PERORATIO: Conclude with call to action in response and highlight the impact on a global scale of doing nothing.

Discuss how the interruption or destruction of culture will affect the beauty and variety of our world, showing a bleak outlook of the future if no culture was to survive.

1. Exordium: A person walking. Camera angle: behind left shoulder as though following the person. No filter. The person opens a door and walks into a room. Black and White filter (transition). Introduce key theme/issue with a quote/sentence: (yet to think of). Assemble clips of real people sharing their experiences with assimilation (particularly negative ones) - this will be used to establish tension by speeding up the pace and jumbling all voices (lasts 7 to 9 seconds). *Pause - screen blacks out.*

2. Narration: Questioning the audience about addressing such an issue in their day to day lives. Introducing the 2/3 people that are being interviewed (compile clips). Oftentimes, this issue goes unseen/unnoticed. Individuals belonging to cultures that predominantly occupy a particular locality tend to establish a heavy influence on those who belong to different cultures. This is followed by a growing urge within individuals (to assimilate) to 'fit in' or merge/engage with those who are a part of the relatively prevalent culture. Actions like self-suppression are negatively attributable to this experience.

3. PROPOSITO/PARTITIO: The claim/stance of the argument.
Present clips of interviews. Using chosen clips from each interview and compiling experiences. This will give the audience a perspective on the issue. Clips of the story (in the background - of the person who walked into the room).

4. CONFIRMATIO: Present evidence in support of your argument.

Present any information from the UN about assimilation. Assimilate or Integrate? Discuss statistics of cultures dying out due to a concentration of another culture in a particular place. Discuss endangered cultures.

5. REFUTATIO: credit counterarguments and respond to them.

It is natural to adjust to the environment you are new to but where to draw the line? Prevent its from becoming toxic. Don't let it outweigh the culture and tradition of where you come from.

6. PERORATIO: Conclude with call to action in response and highlight the impact on a global scale of doing nothing.

Conclude by stating how each and every culture holds significance.
