I think that this quote shows how Nick is aware of the actions that people take, and how most of them are selfish acts that are hidden by false intentions. I think this shows that Nick is very different than many of characters which may be why Gatsby had been interested in him.

I know this isn't the best quote, I haven't found much for her yet, but it kind of shows Myrtles view on jobholders, saying "all they think of is money" and "most of these fellas will cheat you out.
