Question & Concerns with Technology

I'm concerned heavily with the availability of required technology in the classroom. Many times I see underfunded or greedy schools that only buy a limited numbers of computers and are unable to provide enough for every classroom to use. If we can't access the technology we need, do any of these programs and websites really matter? It feels like everything we've learned this semester implies that we'll be in a school that has the money and is willing to provide the devices students need. What can be done in the case of lacking availability?

I can see your point. Sometimes schools cannot afford technology. I came from a school that couldn't so I understand the concern. But isn't it better that we know how to use it and then be placed in a school where there is no technology than to be placed in a technology based school and not know how to use it?

I can see where you are coming from. Regardless I feel like knowledge is power and there is nothing wrong with learning as much as possible. Even if we end up in a place where we can't access the technology we need, it is still helpful to know about these programs and websites.

I feel like if you are a well educated in finding ways to incorporate educational technology, you can find several different options that do not require huge quantities of technology or funding/ You can have the same effect on a lesson with all the funding in the world or if you have little to no funding, as long as you have the passion and will to do so.

I am relatively in the same ball park. The only good news I can present is the fact that schools are becoming more and more technology heave as of late. You will more than likely have at least some tech at your disposal, but really it varies school to school.

I agree with what you are saying I feel like what we have been learning throughout this semester is mostly geared towards students who can afford the technology. Though I also believe that for some of the schools who can not afford to implement this technology their were also lessons to adapt and educated these students. I believe that with more implementation of technology into the school their should be a shared value for this type of resource to be added to at-risk schools so they can get the same level of learning.

I don't think it is the worst thing to still have part of your classroom based on paper and pencil. Maybe you plan a heavy technology based lesson every other week, but you never know when your district will "see the light" or you find yourself in a new district that encourages the use of technology on a daily basis. Regardless of where you are, I think all districts will eventually find their way to being one-to-one.
