"My family have been prominent, well-to-do people in&nbsp; this middle-western city for three generations. The Carraways are something of a clan and we have a tradition that&nbsp; we’re descended from the Dukes of Buccleuch" (pg.4)<br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

I graduated from New&nbsp; Haven in 1915, just a quarter of a century after my father,&nbsp; and a little later I participated in that delayed Teutonic migration known as the Great War."          <description><![CDATA[<div>Nick decides he wants to learn more about bond trading in New York, so he moves to West Egg, Long Island in 1922." He found the house, a weather&nbsp; beaten cardboard bungalow at eighty a month, but at the&nbsp; last minute the firm ordered him to Washington and I went out to the country alone." (pg. 5) This is when he becomes neighbours with Mr. Gatsby. He ends up having lunch with the Buchanans, who his known for a while. Daisy being his second cousin and Tom being a friend from college. At this lunch he tries to bring up Gatsby a lot but the subject keeps getting pushed aside.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

Tom deferred that much to&nbsp; the sensibilities of those East Eggers who might be on the&nbsp; train." (pg.29)</div><div>They go to an apartment in Manhattan on July 2nd ,1922, to attend a small party, where Myrtle ends up being punched by Tom for talking about Daisy.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mr. Gatsby is throwing a party and Nick is invited to it.&nbsp; "People were not invited—they went there. They got into&nbsp; automobiles which bore them out to Long Island and some how they ended up at Gatsby’s door. Once there they were&nbsp; introduced by somebody who knew Gatsby and after that&nbsp; they conducted themselves according to the rules of be havior associated with amusement parks. Sometimes they&nbsp; came and went without having met Gatsby at all" (pg.45) .He also meets Mr. Gatsby at this party and starts to have a relationship with him.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Unsettling Lunch</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Daisy invites Nick and Gatsby for lunch at the Buchanan's house hold. During this lunch Gatsby and Daisy plan to expose their love for each other to Tom, but during the unimaginable hot &nbsp;day they decide to to go to Manhattan to the Plaza Hotel.  Later on Gatsby reveals the affair to Tom in front of everyone and Tom reveals that Gatsby's money in not pure. As Daisy watches all this happen before her feet she is still unwilling to renounce Tom which breaks Gatsby's heart. "You want too much!" Daisy cries to Gatsby. "I love you now- isn't that enough/ I can't help what's past." She began to sob helplessly. "I did love him once- but I loved you too." Daisy decided to stay with Tom. </div>]]></description>
