Hello! My name is Hero, and I’m Leonato’s daughter. You might know my father, as he is the governor of Messina. I have a wonderful cousin named Beatrice, who’s really smart and has a very sharp tongue. I had a lot of fun making her fall in love with a man she claimed to dislike: it was a plan a lot of people were involved in, really. And it was fairly easy: we just had to make them both believe that the other was madly in love with him or her. They got married! It’s kind of ironic, because they both claimed they never would. I was far easier to convince in that area: when the prince of Messina came to visit us, I got engaged to Claudio a wonderful man and we had a lovely wedding (we had two actually. But the first one wasn’t very nice. For more info on that, check my agony angst column) and I’m really happy with him. I’m just a bit concerned by how rash Claudio’s decisions are, and how he is quick to assume the worst of everyone, but I guess we can work on that.

Anyway, I love dancing, balls, playing music and singing. I also like to spend time with my family, especially with Beatrice, and to pull a few pranks from time to time (you should’ve seen Beatrice running back to the castle, soaking wet after Ursula and I dumped some water on her). I also like spending time with my husband, whom I love very much.

I was supposed to marry Claudio, one of the Prince of Aragon’s soldiers. I was at the altar, on my wedding dress and I couldn’t have been happier but Claudio seemed a bit off. He didn’t seem to want to be there at all! And I found out why: HE thought I was being unfaithful! He slandered me and humiliated me in front of everyone, and then left. To make it worse, my father rejected me afterwards! The only one who seemed to believe I was innocent was my cousin Beatrice.  

I haven’t done anything! And I have no idea of what I should do next. How could I prove my innocence, so my life won’t be over? Please help!

I know it sounds a bit extreme, but it will make Claudio and the Prince realize they might have been too harsh, and they might apologize to your father.  Besides, it might also motivate someone to try and prove your innocence. Then, if someone can actually prove it, you will get everything you lost back!
