I know NGSS is more about critical thinking and actually doing rather than just having students memorize facts in a book. For example when it comes to the scientific theory we as teachers should avoid the outdated list with an exact order, but instead emphasize thinking, testing, retesting, failing, and learning from it while continuing to create.
