Graphs are used to interpret information. Different types of graphs have been around for many years to display and understand information. For instance, Bar graphs were used way back by, "Frenchman, Nicole Oresme used a bar chart in a 14th century publication, "The Latitude of Forms", to plot velocity of a constantly accelerating object against time" (History of Bar Charts and Graphs). Picture graphs have been around for many years as well and were used by Egyptians. "The use of picture graphs dates back to the ancient Egyptians. They used pictures known as hieroglyphics to convey a message" ( Study.com). With graphs you can visually see information and have a better understanding of it. All around the world distinct types of graphs are used that all serve the same purpose, to interpret information.

I will draw a graph on the board with different kind of pets the class likes on one side. On the other side we will have the number of students in class.
For example, we will have a section for dogs. I will ask how many students like dogs. We will do it for every pet a student likes in the classroom.

The picture below is an example of what our graph will look like.
