This article explains how Japanese people viewed medieval dragons and serpents and how they were portrayed in text. Almost all of the connections of dragons come from India, China, and japan. Their stories come from ancient texts from both Hinduism and Buddhism. Though not all dragons from these countries are the same, in art works for instance, a Japanese dragon looks more like a serpent without wings while the Chinese or Indian dragon did have wings. Japanese dragons also had scales like lizards, which the other two did not seem to have. Japanese dragons are more like the water snakes rather than giant fire breathing dragons that are in most movies.

This article explains how Japanese people viewed medieval dragons and serpents and how they were portrayed in art. Various pictures and paintings depict dragons. The dragons were all long and serpent like. Most wings were very small and behind the shoulders except for one. The heads are whiskered and often bearded. Some dragons appear to be human shapeshifters.

These articles explain how Japanese and Chinese people viewed medieval dragons and serpents and how they were portrayed in art. Japanese and Chinese dragons were depicted as long scaly serpents with four legs, two of which could have also been arms. A lot of the depictions of these dragons had facial hair such as beards, whiskers and bushy eyebrows. Most of the dragon paintings and texts have had some relationship to water or other natural forces such as mountains or the sky. There are legends of some dragons being human shapeshifters and changing forms at the water's edge.
