The dependency load of Canada is about 35%. Looking at Canada's population pyramid, it shows that most of the country's population is of the working population. There are less elderly people and less children in Canada than there are people of the working population in 2023.

Japan's dependency load is 41.6%. Most of Japan's dependency population is above the age of 65. Japan has a very similar population pyramid to Canada, with most of their population being of working class people and elderly people, and less of their population being children.

Mali's dependency load is 49.2%. Most of Mali's dependency load is children, which is completely different compared to Japan and Canada. Mali has less working class people and less elderly people, while they have a lot more children.

Canada's birth rate is 4.9%. That's less than Mali, but more than Japan. More of Canada's population is of working class, rather than children and elderly people, just like I mentioned before.

Canada's life expectancy is 8.6%. That's not bad comparing it to the other 2 countries. We have relatively good health support compared to other countries, which may contribute to a good life expectancy number.

Japan's life expectancy is 17%. Most people in Japan (as said before) are elderly people. The birth rate in Japan may be low, but the life expectancy is high.

Mali's life expectancy is 0.6%. That's very low. Mali has a low life expectancy but the birth rate is very high. A few reasons as to why this is happening will be explain in the next section.

Japan's birth rate is 3.3%. Japan has been known for most of it's population being elderly people. Japan's birth rate has been pretty low recently, and out of the three countries it has the lowest birth rate.

Why Is It There? ⋆ Why do differences in dependency loads, birth rates, and life expectancies exist between countries?

Many countries have different diseases, and only some countries have ways to prevent it from spreading. In Canada we don't have to worry about diseases from bugs and insects because we have vaccines for those here. But in less developed countries the death rate may be high because they don't have the same vaccines we do. Mali is currently having that situation. The birth rate is high in Mali, but the life expectancy is low. Mali is suffering with different health issues, and they don't have the same health support we do. Malaria is a big issue in Mali, which leads to a lot of deaths there. Meanwhile in Japan they have good health support, but less people are wanting children there. People have been interviewed in Japan and majority of people said they'd rather not have children. Many couples hesitate with having children because of the cost as well. Now, most of it's population is elderly people.

It's important to look at this information now to see how we can improve these numbers in the future.

For countries like Mali, we can try to find ways to improve the life expectancy. While in countries like Japan and Canada, we should try to find ways to improve the birth rate and the growing population, rather than the aging population.
