         <title>Strategies for Interpreting Short Stories</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pay attention to the title.&nbsp;<br>a prediction.&nbsp;<br>Learn about the author.&nbsp;<br>Look up unfamiliar words.&nbsp;<br>Learn about any relevant historical backround.&nbsp;<br>Note how the setting and atmosphere are established.&nbsp;<br>Pay attention to the point of view.&nbsp;<br>Track the development of the plot (how events unfold and increase suspense of action).&nbsp;<br>Identify sources of conflict.<br>Notice the "crucial moment" or climax.&nbsp;<br>Pay attention to the "feel" of the story.<br>Note how/if the main character (protagonist) changes and why.<br>Revisit the title and consider deeper meaning.<br>Identify possible themes and symbols.<br>Infer the author's purpose.<br>Reread anything that doesn't make sense.</div>]]></description>
