Lim boon Keng enrolls in Raffles Institution in 1879. His studies,however, was nearly terminated when his father passed away and the family faced financial difficulties. The then school principal, R.W. Hulled, intervened and Lim boon Keng was able to continue his education.

Lim Boon Keng graduated from raffles institution and was awarded the queen’s scholarship which led him to study medicine at the university of Edinburgh and he graduated shortly after.

In 1983, Lim boon Keng began working as a doctor and quickly earned a reputation as a skilled and attentive physician, later on, Lim boon Keng, together with dr T. Murray Robertson, opened the ‘the dispensery’ at Raffles Place.

In 1942, WW2 ( World war 2 ) broke out. Dr lim was ordered to raise a 'donation' of $50 Million for japan on behalf of all Malayan Chinese. Fortunately his former students and a loan from the Yokohma Specie bank helped pay up the 'donation'.

Lim Boon Keng spent most of his time reading books and newspapers. As singapore society was then being rocked by riots, Lim boon keng gave a speech to the community, urging the community to go forward with friendship with other communities

Shortly after the interview, Dr Lim Boon keng passed away peacefully in 1 January 1957. His passing marked the end of a man who gave selflessly towards improving the chinese community during colonial times.
