This is because these main three help the author establish their own message throughout the text and for the audience to better understand their reasoning, they must look into each of these individually. An author's Ethos helps establish a sense of trust between themselves and the audience by proving their credibility through evidence and references through studies. An author's Logos helps the audience better understand the point they're trying to make through using logical arguments, getting the audience to really think about their stance on something. Lastly, an author's pathos gets the audience to feel emotion towards their argument, be it happy, motivated, angry, or sad. All three of these rhetorical devices are imperative for both the audience and author because as mentioned earlier, a bond is connected between the two. The audience knows that they can trust the author through his establishment of credibility, use of logical arguments, and emotional appeals. The relationship between the narrator and the author in a story is always very dynamic. An author can always write a narrator as omniscient or limited. As a result of this, the two can contradict one another as the narrator and author share different perspectives towards the plot. The two can also work towards different purposes as well. An author can write the narrator in their image, meaning that they'll share the same attitude towards their purpose. Based on if the text is fiction or nonfiction, the relationship can be more clearer if fiction as the author and narrator can be separate entities, and less clear with non-fiction as the author would be the narrator as well. This dynamic is interesting though as it's one of many ways that an author can communicate with their audience.

I found it more difficult to apply SOAPSTone to a fictional text because with a non-fiction text, everything you need is kind of just in front of you. But with fiction, you really need to dig deep to understand the SOAPSTone elements.

Fashion style is a good thing to consider though as it shows what type of personality someone has in the way they express themselves. For instance, my basketball shorts and hoodie look reflect that the day would be considered a "chill" day, while my more flashy outfits show that I'm feeling confident in myself. With me, I'm all about the phrase, "dress to impress." Overall, no matter the mood or how I feel, I still find ways to express myself in ways that make people happy or inspired.

What is occurring in the world at the time a text was written is important to note because it gives the audience insight into what was going on at that time. This helps the author have a more clear purpose. A big example of this can be seen in the civil rights movement. If MLK gave his I Have a Dream Speech in the 90s, it probably would not have been as influential as it was in the 60s. Timing is always key when it comes to things such as text because the event going on at the time of the text being written is likely to attract a bigger audience. If you speak on something before it's an issue, it's likely people will understand you, but the impact won't be as big if it were a problem. I know I find myself using them all the time because if I make a bad grade on something, or flat out am rejected from a position, I manage to look on the bright side of things knowing that things will get better. My friend returning is just like when in TV shows when the side character departs from the main cast, going on a journey of reflection, only to return with a greater outlook on things. Me missing her was an understatement cause she was a real one and she had a glow up. Also, that Navy fitness test is pure Pain.
