By Farah: In my opinion, I will introduce Ugly Duckling story to Year 2 students by letting them listen to a song that talked about people who different from each other but still loving each other. Then, I will give each students pictures of duck. Next, I will let them acknowledge which duck that differ from each other. After that, I will let them know that they are going to learn about Ugly Duckling story. Thus, I will start sharing the story with them and spread the awareness about accepting the differences of other people and believe that everyone is unique and that what makes us special.

Carmen. E: To introduce the story of 'The Ugly Duckling', I will play the role of a story-teller. First, I would wear a duck costume (nothing too exaggerating). Next, I would have the students to bring their chairs and gather, facing the whiteboard. As I tell the story the students, I would use a LCD projector to display the backgrounds that shows the setting in the story (e.g. pond, beautiful view of the forest, etc). I would also get some suitable music playing in the background to get the students into the 'feels' . By doing so, not only can I get the students to be interested and attentive throughout the class, but this could also help the students to understand and remember the story better.

Next, they are going to listen to the story of Ugly Duckling presented by the teacher to answer their guessing to the third question.

As a teacher who will be 100% be thrown into a school in the middle of nowhere , i would relate the story with local folk stories which i learned through tea sessions with the folks in the area. I woukd first talk to the students on the folk story and then proceeding with the ugly duckling and tell them how it is similar and how it is exactly the same but in a different context. This is to give an idea for the students , especially for students in rural areas as they are not exposed to such stories in their lives but they do have their own local folk stories they've heard before. Meaning to say , instead off jumping straight into telling the story , it would be easier for the students to relate the things they already know with the topic or in this context the story of ugly duckling.
