Except for animals what are we suppose to test on? This is in fact very evident. The more harm that antibiotics do on animals, the more they do on humans. There are no  alternatives toward the testing of antibiotic medications. We are left with no other option, and animal testing is the only way for us to access an ultra-safe field of medication and human antibiotic treatments. A lot of testings, in fact, do not even kill animals. Most testings are done with other aspects of the animal such as blood samples or possible habitats. Due to the fact that antibiotics kill all bacteria, both good and bad, it is better to test it one animals that other organisms, and as we are only left with one option--human(due to the intensity). If we come up with other solutions, there will be funding and resource problems occurring to defeat the problem. 
: Cruel: due you want these products to be applied on human treatments etc? 
You are yourself opposing the morality, if we disagree upon animal testing, our population will decrease and there will be more humans suffering from disease cures or antibiotics(worsening the situation) is there is less animal testing. Even using animals are threats to the infected population. Thousands of humans are cured, and thousands of bacterial disease solutions are discovered based on animal testing.

Animal testing is a crucial part for the scientific advancement .The noble prizes for the past thirty years on biological area all relied and depend on the based of animal testing. 
Advancement on the field of medicine and treatment: new discoveries. 
Animals testing, as a long term effect, increases the human population. Moreover, it contributes greatly to the field of medical scholars. As an obvious factor, Antibiotic testing of animals find the cure to many diseases, and can save a large portion for the human population. If we in fact test products on other organisms, there will be a large waste in terms of time, resource and fundings. According to debate.org, diseases such as Rabies, insulin or Polio are all cured due to effective animal testing. Many life-supporting machines depend on animal testing, such as dialysis, and asthma drugs. The conditions of animals during, before or after the test is regulated by AWA since 1966, ensuring that housing standards are strictly followed and that the temperature, size of housing or food given are regular and somewhat enjoyable. There are weekly inspections of the tested animals by professionals from different organizations that ensure animal safety during, before and after the test. The animals are sure to have access to pristine food or water. Animal research must be first inspected and reinforced to ensure various standards and humane treatments, furthermore, "All institutions receiving funding from the US Public Health Service (PHS) must comply with the PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals." Most of animal testing won't let the animal suffer very much from it and the majority of  animal experiments give animals well pain-management and anesthesia so the animal won't feel the pain during the experiments.

Pain management: Laboratory animals receive special cares from veterinarians, husbandry specialists, etc. Researchers won't let the animals suffer too much while doing experiments.
