Of the Chinese population, there seems to be an increasing trend of Crohn’s disease in the Singapore Chinese population (Leong, 2004). Countries with the highest incidences of CD involve Turkey, Lebanon, and South Korea (Behzadi, P., Behzadi, E., and Panjbar, 2015). Lebanon, Japan, and South Korea rank as the first three countries with the highest prevalence. Also experiencing increasingly higher rates of CD in the last three decades are South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong.

Crohn’s disease (as well as inflammatory bowel disease) is notably a global issue that is costing the world hundreds of billions of dollars mostly due to the lack of programs and awareness. With industrial progressions and global awareness increasing, it is hopeful that with more research done on this issue, the lesser the costs (direct and indirect) will be associated as more effective therapies to induce and maintain remission become available to CD and IBD patients worldwide.
