I spend 6 hours with this class (during lab time), in which we develop research questions, do background research, and talk about the culture of science. 

I'd like to ask for another hour later in the semester, once their projects are underway, to talk about how scientists share new knowledge. This would cover presentations and conferences, as well as how the publishing industry works, journal ranking, and audiences, and how to choose open vs. paywalled journals differ.

I'd like to do a session with them where we walk through various categories of information that their patients might be reading. This would include everything from medical conspiracy theories, through popular web sources, through open access journal articles, and talk about how non-experts might interpret these sources.
