Kaiserwald concentration camp

In August 1940, German Einsatzgruppen killed thousands of Jews after German forces entered Latvia. In the late and early of 1941, the Germans announced they would settle the ghetto inhabitants. On November 30th, around 25,000 Jews from Riga ghetto were shot by the German SS. In the summer of 1943, the Germans transported the ghetto inhabitants to the Kaiserwald concentration camp. The others were transported to the Kaiserwald subcamps.

The Aftermath

In the summer of 1944, the Germans then killed thousands of Jews in the Kaiserwald camp. After that, the remaining Jews were transferred to the Stutthof concentration camp. In October 1944, the Soviet army liberated Riga.
