The narrators both set themselves up to get in trouble. In the ¨The Tell-Tale Heart" the narrator got bothered by the eye of the old man he took care of. Also in ¨The Black Cat¨, the narrator killed a cat because he felt like he was being watched. Then he killed his wife because she told him to stop trying to hurt the second cat. Poe uses universal topics such as strategy, loneliness, and regret to make his stories seem so eerie.

Strategic planning can lead to success. I realized throughout the whole story the narrator uses strategic planning. For example, on (5) the narrator said, ¨I moved it slowly- very, very, very slowly so that I might not disturb the old man's sleep. It took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could see him as he lay upon his bed.¨ Also on (6) the narrator said,¨And this I did for seven long nights just a midnight.¨  The narrator was stating his plans for killing the old man.I realized strategic planning is very important for any plan whether the strategic planning is for something simple or something hard, as time goes by strategic planning comes with many thoughts along the way. Today many people use strategic planning that's why people get away with so much stuff. for example on  (13) the narrator said, ¨In an instant I dragged him to the floor and pulled the heavy bed over him.¨ The narrator got away with this. Maybe you have a certain feeling about something but it may only be good for you not anyone else. Today people are getting away with so much stuff (such as murder, shootings, etc.). Now you realized how so many people underestimate strategic planning. I want to grasp on the fact that some people use strategic planning to get away something bad. For example, the narrator uses strategic planning to kill the old man because of his eye. The narrator spent days checking on the old man while he was asleep, so he can successfully kill him without getting caught. The night the narrator killed the old man he uses strategic planning on the way he was going to kill the old man. This makes me realize that this story is him using a whole bunch of strategies to plan to kill the old man. (Repetative)

Loneliness can lead to realizing what you have done. I realized throughout the last half of the story the narrator was lonely. I realized that loneliness is very important for any loss. For example (64) ¨ Once again I breathed as a free man.¨Whether the loneliness is for someone or something, as time goes by loneliness can go two ways: it gets worst or gets better. Today many people are lonely. For example on (64) ¨This Awful murder being done, I set myself with thoughtful care to the task of hiding the body.¨ He was very lonely after he killed the cats and his wife. (Where is your explaination of why he is lonely?) That's why theres groups and websites to find new people. You may have a certain feeling about being lonely that isn't good for you. Today people are lonely so they get depressed but not always. For example, on (64 ¨I grew to hate all things and all mankind.¨ (confusing. What are you trying to say?) Now you realize how many people underestimate being lonely makes people feel. I want to grasp on the fact that some people are lonely because of something bad that happened and/or something bad they did to make them lonely. For example, the narrator is lonely because he killed the cat and his wife. The narrator spent days not worrying about what he has done. The day that came when the cops showed up he was so not worried about them finding the cats and his wife in the wall but once he banged the wall the cat made a noise. He ripped up the wall and realized what he had done and how lonely he is. This makes me realize that this story is telling you to be careful with your actions or you'll end up alone.

The narrators regret made them upset and paranoid. Regret can lead to paranoia. I realized throughout the last half of both stories both of the narrators regretted what they did. For example in ¨The Tell-Tale Heart¨ (19) ¨My headache, and I fancied a ringing in my ears but still, they sat and still chatted.¨ and in ¨The BlacK Cat¨ on (64) ¨The awful murder being done, I set myself with thoughtful care to the task of hiding the body.¨ (What are your quotes proving?) I realized that regret is very important for anything bad you have done. Whether the regret is for something that happened or something you did, as time goes by regret can get better. That's why some people get help so they can forgive themselves. You may have a certain feeling about regretting something that could make you get better or worst. Today people are regretting things they have done just because they don't like themselves or they have done something bad. For example on (21) in “The Tell-Tale Heart” “”I paced the floor to and fro with heavy strides, as if excited to fury by the observations of the men, but the noise steadily increased.” on (66) in “The Black Cat” “almost fainting, I staggered back across the cellar.” Now you realize how many people underestimate how much people regret things. I want to understand why people regret things I also want to grasp on the fact that some people regret things that they didn't even do. Also, some people regret that they killed someone. For example in “”The Tell-Tale Heart” on (19) “”But ere long, I felt myself getting pale, and wished them gone.” and in “The Black Cat” on (66) “No sooner had the sound of my blows sunk into silence, then I was answered by a voice from within the tomb!” This is a sign of regret wishing people you don't want finding out what you did wrong. The narrators both killed someone/something. The narrators didn't regret it until the cops came. They where just calm and talking to the cops when they started hearing things. Then they exposed what they did to the cops because of their regret on what they have done and then they realized they regretted what they did.

As you have read, the stories seem very dark and creepy. I can use strategic planning to get away with stealing my sister's candy or even figuring out what I'm getting for Christmas. I can use loneliness when I lose a friend. And I can use regret when I get in a fight with someone I cared about. I realized from these stories that I can use all of Poes universal topics in real life and not make my life seem eerie. When the narrators kill people they regret right after and that made me learn to think before I act. When the narrator in "The Black Cat" realized he was lonely after killing his family that made me learn to care for those who care for you. When the narrator used strategic planning to kill the get rid of the old man's eye I learned to always have a plan before you do something.
