* Equality
First and foremost, as defined by Oxford English Dictionary feminism is the "advocacy of equality of the sexes". Feminism starts with the idea that all members of both sexes are equal no matter their gender. Equality says that no matter the gender, sexual orientation, looks, and opinion sof others we are all equal. It is called feminism and not equal rights becasue although we are all fighting for equality for everyone, women are the ones who need the most help social and politically. We are the worst off.
* Freedom
Feminism means freedom. Freedom for a woman to dress how she wants and be out as late as she wants with whomever she wants. It is the idea that women can dress in clothing that makes them comfortable, no matte rhow much or how little she wants and not get objectified by it. She can go out at night with a guy and not get harmed, cat-called or raped- and if that happens she should no be told that she was "asking for it".
* Empowering
Feminism is empowering because it gives women a chance to stand together. It encourages women to stand together as equals and allies to each other instead of tearing one another down. For example the women's march. Thousands of women all stood and marched together for a common goal. They were allies and they did not worry about who was better than them and they did not act petty and pit women against each other. They were standing together. Standing empowered for a cause.

Is it the ability to be in the "act like a man box"? Society is what made up these rules of what makes someone manly, or womenly in the other end of the spectrum? Society decided that women needed to be thin and pretty and polite and that those traits are what make someone a women.
Gender is constructed by society because unless you are seen naked there is no way to know what someone is hiding under their clothes. Because we don't walk around naked, the only way to know if someone is male or female is how well they conform to standards made by society.

Privilege is having something that makes you "better off" even if you did not ask for this quality. Privilege comes with power. Men have more power over women socially. White people have more privilege than people of color. These are two examples of privilege that was no asked for. Privilege can be related to political views, and religious preferences as well. Privilege is socially created when one party has more power than another. Whether the first party is aware or asked for this power.

Male privilege is shown through many small things throughout ones lifetime. One example is in schools if a young women wears a shirt that shows her shoulders or a skirt that shows her legs, she can get sent home from school for "distracting" boys. This shows privilege because in this example boys' education and right to school had become more important that the young woman who wore something she felt comfortable in.

Intersectionality is the combination of various social privileges that define a persons experience. It is the idea that race, gender and class work together to tell someone's story. They are all combined ideas and work together. It is making cookies, each social aspect is an ingredient. They can stand on their own but when combined together it makes the final product- a beautiful warm unique cookie, and no two cookies are the same. Each type of cookie changes depending on the types of ingredients put in. Much like every person is different depending on what advantages and challenges they are given.

Intersectionality explains that a woman has a different experience from a man, but a Latino woman has a different experience from a white woman and a bisexual white woman has a different experience from a straight white woman.

Feminist Praxis is “applying one’s knowledge to challenge oppressive systems and unequal traditions” (Berger and Radeloff). There are many ways to be able to combat inequality of the sexes- both on the large scale and the small scale. One can use this by simply conversing with others. Bringing up the topic of injustice, or pointing out things that could be changed is a simple way to embrace feminism. But it doesn't stop there. One can go to rallies for women's rights, or events. One can where clothing that expresses ideals and opens up conversation.

One example of when I used Feminist Praxis in my life is simply calling out things that were unjust. Someone made a comment about feminism being about hating men and I simply said that they were not correctly informed and told them what was really going on. I had a conversation and tried my best to inform the other party what the goal of Feminism actually is. That was a simple way that I have been able to incorporate my knowledge of Feminism in my daily life. After learning more about feminism, I can no longer stand quietly when I hear comments that are incorrect about women, feminism, or any other marginalized group. The more I study feminism the more I want to embrace it's ideals and teach others about it.
