  • The President would have the ability to be reelected for an unlimited amount of terms. This would ultimately  give one person an immense amount of power for an extended period of time.

  • There weren't any objections to it.
  • The amendment was proposed March 21, 1947 and was ratified by all states on February 21, 1951.
  • President Ronald Reagan wanted to repeal the amendment, but once he got Alzheimer's disease, his plans for after his Presidency quickly faded.

  • To limit the number of terms a President can be reelected. 
  • When George Washington retired, he retired after his second term. Because of this, it was assumed that a President would only serve two terms, but that ended up not being the case.

  • Anyone who has acted as President for more than two years can only be elected once. (If a Vice President takes over Presidential duties)
