I chose this president because it seemed he was in poor health throughout his presidency. I have not heard about him, so I think he would be interesting to learn about.

It was stated that Wilson had a great impact on the American government. His progressive agenda centered around protecting the public from exploitation by trusts. In 1912, he won the Democratic nomination for president. He won with 435 electoral votes out of 531 (Center About Woodrow Wilson)He was in good favor with everyone except African Americans because he incited policies that downgraded African Americans from all-level jobs just to service jobs (present day: “black jobs”). This increased the pay gap between white and black people. (Foy How Woodrow Wilson's racist policies eroded the Black Civil Service: Haas News: Berkeley Haas) This proves my point that where Wilson was only for white america, and the improvements were at the expense of black people.

He implemented an economic reform agenda that was approved by Congress at the end of 1913. This agenda included reforms related to tariffs, banking, and labor and introduced the income tax. Wilson also enhanced the executive branch by establishing the Federal Reserve, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Internal Revenue Service. His focus on efficiency and bureaucracy aligned him with the Progressive movement. Wilson promoted new technologies. He inaugurated the Panama Canal, initiated airmail service, supported the development of an interstate highway system, appeared in one of the earliest filmed campaign ads, used a microphone to amplify his voice, and witnessed the emergence of radio. (Home Progressive Era politics - President Wilson House)I would like to say that this promotion of technology influenced the influx of home appliances and radio ads. Which in term promoted mass consumerism (that is still popular today) and the nuclear family mindset near the end of his term.

At the end of his term, Woodrow Wilson was given a C; His policies were favorable in the public eye. From expanding America's way of producing a profit by educating farmers about agriculture. Education can improve and sustain American democracy and improve the economy for the next president from the introduction of product and material industries. He was a good president for people who could benefit from these laws, which were honestly only white people. These laws and acts were at the expense of black people. He encouraged segregation and subconsciously promoted the divide between white and black people. White people are given more opportunities to succeed and accomplish the American dream. While black people were only able to obtain service jobs and lower pay. Racism was also implemented into minorities overseas, the subliminal message for Latin Americans was that they would bring destruction to American democracy, which was backed up by stereotypes that were already mainstream about immigrants: "They'll take our jobs." The acts that Wilson implemented during his presidency could only benefit one genre of person. To be an effective president, what you are putting into law and action benefits everyone in the country you are leading. This is why his grade is a C his laws only helped a small portion of the country; they were good actions. But it would be a better presidency if he helped everyone obtain opportunities that could help them live a sustainable life.

My first stroke made me disabled in my right hand until it healed four months later (Arizona Woodrow Wilson - strokes and denial). How my second stroke caused me to change my personality to become less driven in the office. (physically, I should have not been president)

He argued that high tariffs created monopolies and hurt consumers, and his lower tariffs were especially popular in the South and West.

President Woodrow Wilson's foreign policy was called aggressive moral diplomacy. The responsibility to deny recognition to any country in Latin America that could be viewed as hostile(Ambar Woodrow Wilson: Foreign affairs). This policy served to protect and promote American democratic values and human rights, a concept introduced by President Woodrow Wilson during his term. This kinda seemed like a race thing because this policy was more directed towards Mexico. Makes me think of Trump and the border "Protect American democracy" by putting up a wall that says on the front "Don't even try" but I think to any other white person this would be a positive thing...

I believe he wanted to do good for the American people, but the people he fought for were white people. It was stated that "Wilson brought with him a segregationist ideology... Wilson permitted his newly appointed cabinet to segregate their departments. As historian Eric Yellin explains, segregation did not simply separate Black and white workers in the federal government; it halted Black professional advancement and restricted hiring in the desirable positions for which these men and women were qualified having passed the requisite civil service exams." (House Wilson and Race - President Wilson House) Black people were starting to advance, but then, when he came into office, that was immediately struck down. He separated black people they black people were once again diminished to only doing service jobs. You cannot want the betterment of america if you do not want it for every single person that lives there.
