In the modern workplace, the application of technology is popular, and people's attitudes towards it are various. In general, technology is beneficial. Some may argue that technology brings disadvantages to the workplace as they distract employees' attention and kill their skills (Ramey, no date). However, it may unwise to make such a judgment, as Purcell & Rainie (2014) shows that less than 10% of adults who work online think digital devices lowers their attention, and a large proportion of online working adults think technology improves their efficiency. Another disadvantage that technology may have is that the gains come late (Bonnet, 2014). Although that might be true, it is also possible that technology contributes to the innovation and growth of the business.

2

Some advantages and disadvantages of technology in the workplace will be compared and get to know that technology in the workplace is beneficial overall. One of the advantages of technology is to enhance the innovation of the workplace. According to Ramey, technology is able to innovate a new way to promote business. In converse, Ramey also claimed that technology kills employee’s skills, such as calculating. However, in the workplace, skills are servicing for the productivity, which means that as long as the employees’ productivity retains or even rise, skills losing would not be a big deal. One significant evidence is suggested by Purcell and Rainie that only few employees’ productivity has dropped because of the new technology. Additionally, new skills of mastering official applications could replace those old skills. Therefore, technology is helpful in the workplace.

3

The value of flexible working hour could be very limited in terms of job satisfaction. Firstly, in converse, source a claimed flexible working hour is more efficient than flexibility around workplace. However, some employees thought flexible working hour is not beneficial for them, especially men (source c). This means that flexible working hour may only work for some special group of employees, such as married women, who need to balance family and work better. Above all, according to source a, a study in 2015 suggested as long as employees spent more than 15 hours per week, employee’s job satisfaction would decrease. In this case, the flexible schedule would mean nothing. Therefore, flexible working hour may be useless for job satisfaction.
