In Ms. Peregrine’s home for peculiar children is a creepy and suspenseful and sometimes funny. This is a book based on unusual and spooky photos. In the beginning of the book it showed a picture of a man with no eyes and tongues going out of his mouth. This was so creepy because it showed people with no eyes and having deep gashes in their stomach. There were some parts where it said that they found a man in the ocean that had his arms twisted in impossible ways. It is suspenseful because the characters were going off the edge of a house and they were running from one of the monsters. In some parts it was suspenseful because the monster was about to eat the main character (Jacob Portman) when he stabbed the creature in the eyes and the monster died. It is funny because there were some parts when people were rapping and one kid that was rapping said he thought it up in the loo (bathroom).

In Private Peaceful, the book is both happy and sad. It is happy because it shows a part when the main character is at his home and he and his brother hear that the old man that owned the big mansion up on the hill overlooking the village was going to get rid of an old dog that was slow and couldn’t hunt, the brothers secretly took the dog to their house and they kept the dog without the old man noticing. It is happy because the main characters brother had fallen in love with a girl, weeks later her parents kicked her out because of hearing her falling in love with Charlie Peaceful (main characters brother). The brothers and their family warmly welcome his brothers girlfriend to the house, and she stays there for good. It is sad because the brothers go to World War 1. In the end, Charlie Peaceful is shot by a firing squad in the British army, this happened because he didn’t go out to battle when called upon. It is sad because Tommy Peaceful (main character) is caught in a gas attack and is left with no one to pick him up or help him.
