1. All of these techniques are being used very regularly. This is an area of strength for our staff.

2. This was not as successful as we'd like. Greater communication/moderation is needed between different grade level teachers to eliminate discrepancies in assessment, reporting, etc, and to determine which skills are most necessary for the following year.

3. This has been very successful in the junior division, and is an area of strength for our junior staff.

1. Using math chats/number talks consistently at the beginning of math blocks or during snack time. Family math is sent home with an open-ended style question. Next steps will be to do number talks/math chats more consistently and improving independent use of number talk signals.
2. Keep communication open between grade levels.
3. Giving open-ended questions during collaborative work time where students are encouraged to focus on the process rather than necessarily getting the right answer. Students are practicing explaining their thinking orally and learning to respectfully disagree with one another.

1. Number talks and math chats are used during both centre time with a small group and whole group learning time using both technology as well as manipulatives. Students have learned to do their own number talks with their classmates at math centres.
2. Teachers are working toward a Math specialist, where we have looked intensely into the curriculum continuum and how the Kindergarten program can be used to provide students with a knowledge base conducive to entering their Grade 1 year. Teachers talk to Grade 1 teachers about the concepts that they expect the students to know coming into Grade 1. Kindergarten teams communicate with each other on a daily basis to moderate instruction to eliminate any discrepancies in what is being taught and assessed.
3. Collaboration with older classes, whole class inquiry projects, consolidation in whole group circle by showing pictures of students engaged in problem solving and having them explain their process or having students share something they learned.
