Today I started reading “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” by Ben Fountain. When I was trying to pick a book yesterday, I was wavering between the book that I chose and “A Long Way Down” by Jason Reynolds.
It was a tough decision. But, I ultimately decided to choose this book because it sounds like there is going to be sports envolved with the book and I like reading stories that have sports envolved with it.

1. The book is a sports fiction 
2. Another book the Ben Fountain has wrote was Beautiful country burn again.
3. I would say that it’s is a more modern read
4. It also has been made into a Movie

So far I’m not sure of how I like my book I’ve only read a couple of pages and I’ll that I know is that my character was in the army and that he is working on a movie set. ]]> 2023-01-27 15:23:57 UTC https://padlet.com/canderso002/ia4hgwbyls8uw5ej/wish/2459095872 Validation canderso002 https://padlet.com/canderso002/ia4hgwbyls8uw5ej/wish/2466326366 A connection I have with the short film is a personal experience because when I get compliments like how the main character is giving validations to others, it makes be feel good and makes me want to give compliments to others as well.Another connection is current events because I feel there is a little amount of people who compliment each other so when one person starts doing it, it catches you off guard like how it was for the first guy to get validated in the movie.

]]> 2023-02-02 15:37:36 UTC https://padlet.com/canderso002/ia4hgwbyls8uw5ej/wish/2466326366 Identity Crisis Project canderso002 https://padlet.com/canderso002/ia4hgwbyls8uw5ej/wish/2492742507 In the story The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger.  The main character is Holden Caulfield, and his conflict in the story is that he just got kicked out of a prep school and has a hard time with the ability to connect with people. He questions his identity by never truly figuring out what his true identity was because he was always lying about things like his age and about who he really is. 
A critical moment in the story is when he saw his sister phoebe who was the only person that he was talking nice about in the whole story on the carousel. This scene was important because it was a type of intimacy that Holden had been missing his whole life and it's when he accepted himself into becoming an adult and no longer a kid. The author makes the scene descriptive by telling how Holden was getting confused on why he was feeling happy and describing the carousel as beauty and music and even motion but it doesn't go anywhere.
I can somewhat relate to the character because sometimes I can get conflicted about being a kid and being an adult but it wasn't to the extreme that Holden gets it to. I can understand why he feels the way he does because growing up is one of the scariest things that a lot of people don't realize.
