My knowledge of and ability to use the English language is already really good (if I say so myself), but when studying specific subjects like Environmental concerns, Sustainability, the link with Social Work... in English it's like you're a first year student with no knowledge of any professional lingo and terminology again. For example the Dutch students in our group mentioned they've noticed we don't swear a lot when we're passionate (positive or negative) about things. Farmers in Africa and South-America are struggling to produce enough food and get fair prices for it for them to survive, many people in India don't get fitting well-paid job opportunities to support their families. Although climate change does affect those people, probably more than it will ever affect me, they are simply too busy trying to survive to be able to worry about the environment. As you can see in my individual mindmap, when I need to study a subject I use a rather analytical system with lines and lots of words to organize as much information and details about it as possible. Seeing how some peers did their mindmaps in a more artistic way, with less keywords but with pictures, drawings, and organic shapes, opened my eyes to studying and presenting subjects on a more creative and visually pleasing way, which is also the way we worked together on our group mindmap.
