I learned that the 3 planes are frontal, sagittal and transverse. The frontal plane cuts the body in anteior and posterior, the sagittal plane divides the body into right and left and the transverse planes cuts the body in superior and inferior. Color coding this worksheet really helped me understand the different planes because it clearly showed to me what the different planes are and how they work. Also in class we watched a crash course episode on the planes which gave me a better understanding of what these planes are.

I learned the 4 different joints are ball socket, saddle, gliding and pivot joint. This worksheet really taught me how these joints work and how they are different because it showed me pictures of each joint and where they are located on the human body and how they work. Also in class Mrs. Pila went through each of these joints and showed us where they are located on our body which really gave me a better understanding on how these different joints work.

I was able to master identifying all the bones of the Appendicular Skeleton because of many of the worksheets we did in class and all the times Mrs. Pila drew pictures to give us a better understanding. Color coding this worksheet also played a role in helping me master this target because it made it clear where the bones in the Appendicular Skeleton are located. Also I am taking anatomy this year which also played a huge role in mastering this target.

Throughout this unit I learned how to perform first aid skills. I learned the different types of situations you may be put in and the types of steps you should take to prevent the worst possible case. I learned how to control blood by Mrs. Pilla talking to us in class and showing us what to do. I learned how to tape a person based on their injuries and I learned how to put a person in a brace or a splint. I was able to master this skill because of all the labs we did in class.

The universal precautions is always to make sure you always have a protective barrier between you and the patient you are working on. This means always wear gloves and only give breaths if you have a CPR mask. I learned how to properly put on gloves and how to properly take them off. You want to put the gloves on both your hands and over your wrist before touching the patients. When you finish with your patient you then want to pinch the the glove with your other hand and pull it off. Finally you want to place two fingers on the inside of other glove and pull them off.

In this unit I was able to lean and differentiate the roles of different sports professions. I learned what their jobs are and what they do on a day to day basis. I was also able to learn how the sports professions are all different from each other. During this target we made a slideshow that compared two different sports professions and I was able to see how they were different and how they were the same. I had to do a lot of research to find out what types of sports medicine professions there are and the different schooling each one requires.

Throughout this unit we dived deeper into the anatomy of our bones. I was able to master learning about the shoulder because of the notes we took in class. These notes really taught me where every bone in my shoulder is located and how each bone goes together. Also the notes were able to teach me about the different joints in my shoulder like the Glenohumeral which is a ball and socket joint.

Also throughout this unit we dove deeper into the anatomy of our knee. Taking notes in class and knee evaluation lab where we did different movements on our partner helped me master this skill. The notes we did in class helped me master the skill because it showed me what makes up the knee and how your knee is able to perform flexion and extension. The knee evaluation lab helped me master this skill because it was a hands on lab where I was able to feel my partners knee bones and perform test on his bones to see if he would have any ligament damage.

We spent a lot of days taking notes on the anatomy of my ankle bones. Throughout this period I realized there are so many big and tiny bones that all contribute to my ankle. I also learned there are 3 main joints that make up the ankle and all have important roles. The notes and the different ankle labs we did in class was also able to teach me why my ankle is able to perform dorsiflexion, planterflexion, inversion and enversion. Trying to master these skills at first was very overwhelming because there were so many parts that made up and ankle but as time went on Mrs. Pila was able to make these concepts very easy because of the whiteboard notes she did and the different examples she showed us.

We did labs like the knee evaluation lab, the Q angle lab and the shoulder evaluation lab which all played a huge role in teaching me the different movements that occur at these joints. The gait walking lab was able to teach me the best why certain movements occur with specific joints because it showed me how bad/good my joints were in different areas. This lab also taught me that it is always a good idea to stretch and warm-up your joints before doing any physical activity.

Throughout this semester of Sports Medicine 1 I have learned many new skills that I can carry over with me as a professional . From learning basic anatomy to performing different tests on my classmates there is a lot to take away from this. As for when I am a professional I think the skills that involved me putting splints and putting my partner in a sling and the testing we did on our partner with benefit me the most because they are all crucial skills to have. These skills have an impact on me because they are all skills I can use in the real world at any time if something bad was to occur. I have become better at describing injuries to people by using the proper medical terms.

I also have become better at taking care of people who might have broken their arm, shoulder or leg. I became better at putting people in splints and slings and learned what to do in those situations.
