• Both consists of 9 judges/egwugwu, each acts as an impartial party to settle disputes. One of the nine judges acts as the leader or the highest rank.
• Both have an area in court/house where spectators can watch the trials.
Differences
• In SCC, indivuals or groups have the right to choose whether they want to represent themselves at court or hire a lawyer. While the people of Umuofia have to represent themselves.
• Procedures of trials in SCC are complex while in Egwugwu is very simple.
