By using the SAMR framework, a teacher can integrate technology in an effective manner.  Teachers will enhance learning opportunities by substituting and augmenting tasks with technology.  For example, instead of having students write a paper about volcanoes, they can create a PowerPoint presentation and record a narration of it using Screencastify.  The other part of the SAMR framework involves transforming tasks in ways that they could not have be done without technology.  When a teacher transforms a task, it can be modified significantly, like the screencast mentioned above.  They also can use technology to redefine a task.  In other words, they can use technology to do something that could not be done in the past.  An example of this is challenging students to create something that can solve a problem, like cleaning up litter floating in water.  The students can digitally design their creation, and print out a model using a 3D printer.
Emergent bilinguals benefit greatly from the effective use of technology in the classroom.  By using the SAMR framework, tasks can become more engaging and authentic.  It also differentiates tasks so that students will be provided with resources that are in their native language or at their level.  They have access to videos that bring the information to life and give more context to their learning.  Using technology to assess an emergent bilingual's understanding can also give them a better chance at performing at a higher level than simply having them write their answers on a piece of paper.
