I think the SAMR model is important to consider while planning lessons to ensure purposeful integration of technology. I also believe that when lessons are modified or redefined using technology, student engagement is increased leading to a deeper understanding of content.

I think the SAMR model is important because technology is constantly changing and being introduced into the classroom. This model provides an excellent way for us to examine new tech and find meaningful ways to use it - when necessary. It hurts my feelings to hear when someone "uses technology just to use it" and this is a great way to create completely new and engaging lessons and projects.

I've attached a video that an 8th grader created last year that highlights how we used technology in Cavallini.

I think the SAMR model is important, because it gives teachers and students a unique opportunity to reflect and collaborate. This can help improve understandings, lessons learned, and expand our opportunities with what technology can allow us to do.

I like the idea of having industry experts to video chat with the classroom. I teach a couple different classes, which includes architecture. I think it would be such a great experience if the students could discuss and review their designs with an actual designer in the field to get constructive feed back. This virtual "critique" will give students not only an opportunity to learn how to sell and defend their designs, but learn how to communicate and receive constructive feedback.

The SAMR model is important because it allows teachers and students to be innovative. Technology enhances students' learning when used meaningfully and purposefully. Personally, I get excited when I can find ways to integrate technology into lessons and activities, and students are definitely more engaged and motivated when they're allowed to use it.

I think the SAMR model is important because it allows for differentiation. Not only do I have students with varying ability levels, I have students who have different learning styles. The SAMR model engages all students because they can excel and "show what they know" in many different ways. Using the SAMR model is a great way to enhance previous lessons/projects and also to create new and engaging opportunities for student learning.
