He was born on 29th May 1890 in Koggala and his nationality is Sinhala. Martin Wickramasinghe's father's name is Lama Hewage Don Bastian Wickramasinghe. His mother's name is Magalle Balapitiya Liyanage Thochchohamy. 

   He learned devanagari script and he could recite by memory long section of the Hithopadesha. After two years he was taken to a Vernacular school. Where he proposed until 1897 where he was sent to an English school in Galle Called Buona Vista. He wrote many books Gamperaliya, Kaliyugaya, Madoldoova, Ape gama, Upandasita are some of them

Martin Wickramasinghe's spouse is Katluwe Balage Premade Silva. Martin Wickramasinghe married her on 1925. He has five childre. Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe also received the "Sahithya Chakravarti" award , "The Presidential Literary Award " and " The British O.B.E" Award. He is known as " Helaye Maha Gath Kathuwara".

Wickramasinghe was got a many Awards. Such as, Best news paper article for the year 1956, Best novel of the year 1957(Viragaya), Honart PHD by the Vidyodaya University, Unesco Award 1964, Receives the first presidential award for literature 1974  and etc. Then His books have been translated into several languages.

He was Written Novels Including Malagiya Aththo (1959), Walmath wee hasarak Nuditimi(1962) , Malawunge Aurududa(1965) and he was written any Short Stories.

He was did research literery theory and criticism.

He was died in 16th August 1996 in Colombo.

He made an immortal contribution to the country and died on 16th August 1996.

He was a brilliant leader who encouraged his team and guided them to move forward. He has achieved many victories against different countries. He is currently the best wicketkeeper in the history of cricket. It is a matter of great pride for us. Sangakkara was a member of the squad for the 2007 cricket world cup, 2011 cricket world cup and 2009 ICC world twenty20 finals. Won man of the match award in the final of the 2014 ICC world twenty20. He retired from cricket in 2015 with 15 years of experience.
