         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Angles were a Germanic people who lived along the German-Danish border. After Rome fell, groups of Angles and Saxons invaded and settled England.&nbsp;The Anglo-Saxons waltzed onto the island with little resistance, as Governments on the island viewed the Anglo Saxons as giving them protection from Viking invaders. </div>]]></description>

         <title>The social structure </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The social structure started with the king then went on to the thanes. In third were the churls then manummitted slaves and celts. Then last were the slaves. The king was responsible for the military and all angle people. The Thanes has to attend legal assemblies and the churls has the same rights and obligations as the Thanes. Slaves did all work as craftsman and servants. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Some Facts</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. “Hoo Helmets” were worn by Anglo Saxon warriors and are what most people know the Anglo-Saxons for.<br>2. Anglo-Saxons, like most other Europeans, as their main offensive weapons. Swords were usually passed throughout generations.<br>3. When fighting, Anglo-Saxon infantry shouted an intimidating battle cry, often yelling Christian chants.<br>4. Huscarls were Scandinavian mercenaries who served in the Anglo-Saxon armies.<br>5. “Fyrd” was an old tradition of conscription in times of war.<br>6. When the Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain, local warlords hired warriors called “Hearthweru” for protection against Anglo forces.<br>7.  Anglo-Saxons used a Defensive tactic called the “wedge and shield fort” which used the Hearthweu warriors from earlier</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The government system consisted of three components. The the laws and collection which was controlled by the king. Athoritive statements and private complications. The political structure was put into three parts. The first one is the London and it is ruled by the king. Second is it is divided into 40 shires ruled by eorls. Third is the hundred that is a unit of 100 hides. A hide is land large enough that a thegn, his horse, and his family can live there. </div>]]></description>
