Many children think their parents are the world's most perfect people when they are little but find out later that not always is this true. This situation is happening to the girl in this story she is telling. Because before now, she did not know that her mom was illiterate. At first in the story when she finds out she is not embarrassed she just doesn't fully understand. When she sees the little girl, who has never seen anything like her mother, then she realizes it is not normal. First wants to protect her mother.
