A commemoration to such a destructive creature, the Boll Weevil. It's quite odd a town would choose to honor an insect who destroyed crops. But, the destruction put the city on a new path to peanut production. It's placement right in the middle of historic downtown, full of hustle an bustle, almost feels like a metaphor for resilience.

It's impressive watching the groups of older women speed walk around the pond in the midday heat, especially while wearing a mask. I've always found it interesting how this one side of the park is so quiet and serene (excluding the occasional honk of a goose) while only a few yards away children run rampant.

It was unusually quite here as the normally bountiful fruit stands lay there empty. You can almost hear the chatter and dull roar of patrons and sellers interacting, and smell the sweet honey and fruits they're advertising, even though it is empty. It's amazing how even empty shells of things can trigger the most vivid imaginations.

Another odd reference to the Boll Weevil, but, I will admit, the name is quite clever. Looking from the outside this building is nothing spectacular: no windows, dimly lit, empty parking lot. But, this building is the epitome of a small town amusement. The value of this building doesn't come from the flashing lights or shiny balls, it's the bored children who sit inside laughing at their friends who can't hit pins without bumpers still.

Coming here almost felt like entering a portal to a different time. On the windows where there was once new blockbusters, is now homemade posters for Steel Magnolias and Harry Potter. But, I think this place perfectly represents the adaptability of small town businesses, providing just a sliver of joy in such difficult times.

This is the source of the peanut scent that fills the air. It seems like a weird location to have a factory, smack dab in the middle of the city, right next to school grounds. Sometimes it's interesting watching the trucks go in and out, or the train move to load and unload. Being the neighbor to the "Peanut Capital of the World," it's no surprise the city dove into the market.
