Language is such a diverse way of communication, that only through knowing many different languages do you truly understand a larger part of various cultures, people and knowledge. Through knowing only one language, our mother tongue, we limit ourselves to fully understand how unique and diverse it can become, and how a simple word in other languages can create a whole new emotion not translated by our own words. The belief of language is that it creates a feeling far greater than we can express with actions, it can go past barriers, it can tell someone how much you love them, or even hurt them. Yet at the same time, language can limit us. Not all have the devices to learn their language fluently, creating a gap, to which those who have higher knowledge are given noble status, where others are limited simply by where they were born.
Language is both a power to give and take control, when I think of a dystopian belief of language I remember nineteen eighty-four, and how through the simple use of wiping rebellious, emotive words they could then control the way people thought. Although not a real example, a true possibility for the future governments.
