This is because fossil fuels contain toxins from millions of years ago that can damage the environment by pollution in the atmosphere.  By limiting this we can save many species from dying and make it a safe environment for them.

I agree with Brandon's answer to stop destroying animal habitats. By avoiding the destruction of animal's habitats, we would lower the number of animals that would have trouble finding shelter elsewhere as those other areas are most likely, also affected.
I also agree with Matthew's answer to avoid bringing certain predators to new areas. This would help lower the number of species that are being wiped out in an area because of the introduction of these new predatory species into that environment.
