The mechanism in your body that circulates blood and nutrients throughout your body is called the circulatory system. There are two circuits in the circulatory system: the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit. To make oxygenated blood, the pulmonary circuit transports deoxygenated blood to the lungs. The systemic circuit is the circuit that sends blood with oxygen to the heart and subsequently circulates it throughout the body. Hemoglobin, the major protein in red blood cells, is the vehicle on which oxygen moves throughout the body. Hemoglobins are like school buses on which oxygen can board and get off at the right locations throughout the body.
