Elisa Carbone introduced Richard as a boy who builds his relationship with Samuel and does not die in the book. "It seeems as if I have finally learned to be a friend, to open my heart and care" (Carbone 196). This evidence shows how Samuel viewed Richard as a friend, and that Richard did not die in Blood on the River. In Written in Bone, however, Richard is shown as "a fitting candidate for [a Jamestown skeleton]" (Walker 43). Sally walker includes the fact that Richard is the identity of a skeleton found in Jamestown. So, in Written in Bone, Richard is instead the one who dies, so Richard surviving in Blood on the River is fictional.

Adidson, Nick, Annie, Liam

"The orphanage is not a bad place...Richard's tooth only fell out because it was already loose when I punched him,"(Carbone 7). She shows this in a kind of funny way by first mentioning his name as someone Samuel has punched before.

Sally Walker introduces Richard as an excavated Jamestown skeleton with the code name JR1225B. "To hear Carter Hudgins talk about finding bones is to understand what makes moments like this so extraordinary,"(Walker 22). The discovery of these bones was an important moment to those present in the informational text that are in the field of forensic anthropology, science, and history.
