The TED talk wants us to change our thinking to change our solution. Teaching has gone from "sit and git" to student-centric learning in the last 20 years. To have a student-centric classroom, technological devices are necessary. Some of our schools do not have 1:1 student:computer ratio. It is still possible because not every student is on a computer 100% of the time. So communication among teachers are vital.
My only issue with his talk is that he said, that students will "Learn what they want to learn". My digital media kids also took video via a drone (which I believe is one of the next big technology waves). The district our library partnered with was one-to-one (middle school with iPads, high school with chromebooks). Though this seemed like it would solve the issue of connecting students with technology, little thought was given to teaching students how best to utilize the technology given to them--or instruct teachers how to integrate them into the curriculum. And many students didn't have access to internet at home, rendering their devices unusable for homework (which was the intent for the high school). Access and digital literacy were the district's largest problems. Since 1991, when Internet was developed and open to public, It became an ultimate open source and it is everywhere in our professional and personal lives. With internet and devices that allow us to be online anytime anywhere, life is becoming easier everyday. There are arguments on how technology and internet affecting social life, but use of the instant access to information and instant communication between is what leads the idea of using and designing technology. I find technology and pretty useful for students and instructors. It allows us to teach and learn in different methods individually.

However, as we all are aware, we all need to learn things that we may not be fond of. While I am not a huge fan of writing, it is a skill that I need in any job path I choose, and I will need to learn it. The same goes for our students.
