The Washington Commanders currently supports/leads many foundations that relate to taking initiative for social responsibility. These include providing access to sports equipment for under resourced communities, Marine Toys for Tots, and providing food to those in Prince George's County. They currently lead a 50/50 raffle, where the remaining jackpot is donated by the Washington Commanders Charitable Foundation in support of youth programs throughout the region.

The Social Responsibility Initiative that I would like to create for The Washington Commanders is one that revolves around Fan Engagement, Community Development, and Philanthropy.

This will be a one day event to help with raising funds for Physical Education programs within St. Mary's County Public Schools. The players will donate their time to raise funds for these schools PE programs, and will do so by signing autographs, taking pictures, etc. This event will cost $10 to get in, but the autographs and pictures will be donation only, and the players must see proof of donation. This will be promoted via social media, as well as via the school system.

Fans get to hang out with their favorite players for the day, while doing good for the PE programs in this school system!

These are done by both players on their own, and by the Washington Nationals organization.

The initiative I would establish is an event day that has a softball game and a wiffleball game, and both each also have a home run derby. During the event day, there would be a host of other activities, each with the goal of raising money for PE equipment for schools. As our nation continues to battle an obesity epidemic, it is vitally important that our schools continue to have reliable equipment for students to use. This event would be held during the baseball season during the All-Star break so there is opportunity for the players to be available and for students to be there due to Summer break.

Being a PE teacher, I see firsthand that a lot of our schools have dilapidated equipment and the yearly allotment for funds, is never enough to cover everything that is needed. This event would help to bring in money for schools that desperately need it.

Plan and resource your work appropriately, getting help where needed. Be sure you have expert administrative support.

- This event will take a few months of planning and will involve a team of community outreach experts. Players from the team will be involved to entice more fan engagement. For the day itself, volunteers will be needed, and any schools that will be receiving the funding need to have an ambassador in attendance.

Consider if and how you will sustain your work, and manage expectations of those involved

- The day will involve meticulous planning, and will have a tight schedule to ensure everything is done in order and on time. For each activity, there will be a handful of people who know how to run it in case a backup is needed.

More than a million people are affected by human trafficking in the U.S., with youth and women being the main targets. Since the WNBA consists of women athletes, it would be related to their sport. The initiative involves a 3-day camp with the Indiana Fever players and coaches. The camp will include drills, coaching tips, fun activities, and short lectures on how to stay safe. Anti-human trafficking organizations and local police will also be present to provide lectures on safety. The camp will take place in the summer, with all proceeds donated to the "FAIR Girls" organization which is an anti-human trafficking organization.

As a franchise with a passionate fan base and deep ties to the city of Philadelphia, the organization is well positioned to lead community-focused initiatives that address local social issues. For this campaign, the proposed social responsibility initiative is “Huddle for the Homeless,” a community-driven outreach program designed to support Philadelphia’s unhoused population through donation drives, awareness campaigns, and partnerships with local shelters and nonprofit organizations. The initiative invites fans to donate essential survival items such as blankets, socks, toiletries, and nonperishable food during home games at Lincoln Financial Field. These visits would also include donating books and classroom materials to help support school libraries. The program would also give Panthers fans a way to get involved. At home games at Bank of America Stadium, fans could donate books or contribute through an online fundraiser promoted on the team’s social media accounts. The team would also highlight the schools involved and share updates about the program online so fans can see how their support is helping local students.

One principle used when creating this initiative is stakeholder engagement. The Panthers would work with teachers, school leaders, parents, and community members to understand what schools need most. Getting input from these groups helps make sure the program actually benefits the students and communities it is trying to support.

Another principle is evaluation and transparency. The Panthers would track things like how many schools participate, how many books are donated, and how many students are involved. Sharing these results through the team website and social media helps show the real impact of the program and keeps the organization accountable.

The purpose of the Huddle for the Homeless initiative is to raise awareness of homelessness in Philadelphia while creating a structured opportunity for fans to contribute essential supplies to individuals in need. The initiative is designed to involve a wide range of community members including Eagles fans, local families, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations that work with the unhoused population. Emphasizing inclusion ensures that the program remains accessible to anyone who wants to participate, whether through donations, volunteer support, or community outreach efforts at Lincoln Financial Field.

The structure of the campaign encourages participation from multiple groups connected to the organization. Fans will be invited to bring donation items and supplies during Eagles home games, while volunteers and team community relations staff coordinate collection and distribution efforts. To ensure the initiative produces meaningful impact, the campaign will collaborate with local shelters and nonprofit organizations that specialize in homelessness outreach. These partners provide experience in identifying community needs, organizing distribution of supplies, and connecting individuals with additional services.

The Phillies would work really hard with the leaders of the community, schools, and other departments to help figure out what the needs are in the community. Another principle would be working with partners. The Phillies would definitely collaborate with some of the local schools or sporting goods stores to help provide anything that is needed to help with the participation. Lastly, evaluating impact would make sure to measure the overall success through the participation. Hopefully, this would help with the Phillies connection to the Philly community while still promoting the youth development in the game of baseball.

The Dons Grades and Plays program would be something that enhances overall academic and athletic life for Dons athletes. Being a student-athlete is a challenge for many to perform optimally in the classroom and on the playing field. The Grades and Plays program would help student-athletes to develop accountability, responsibility, integrity, determination, and utilize proper time management skills and to excel as a student-athlete. Loyola, like all schools, has a policy about academic performance determining a student's eligibility to play sports at the school. Grades and attendance must be at an acceptable level to play. The Grades and Plays program would reward student-athletes by providing incentives to student-athletes who achieve in the classroom (ex. A on an exam/project, overall grade goes up a letter, outstanding group projects, etc.) and athletically (school record/top 10 performance, game MVP, improved performance in practice, etc.). Teachers and coaches would collaborate to determine which student-athletes should be recognized for academic and athletic excellence. Student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in both areas will be recognized monthly and earn a prize or award (free Loyola swag, gift card, amusement park or sport game tickets, etc.). This helps student-athletes to excel by learning important life skills and setting up for success whatever their path after high school is.

One principle I thought of, and I believe is the most important is understanding purpose and context. This is thinking of the "why?" for the program. My purpose for Grades and Plays is to help student-athletes develop important life skills that are needed for success as students, professionals in the future, and as overall people. Also, providing incentives can motivate students to want to improve, even though it's also important not to participate just to earn incentives. The overall focus is to improve athletic and academic performance in school. This is where the principles of considering the people you hope to involve and designing your approach with purpose and people in mind comes into play. I know how difficult it can be to balance the classroom and sports being a high school and collegiate student-athlete. I know of many great athletes who struggle in the classroom or don't care so much about their academics. So, my focus is on the student-athletes at Loyola and the purpose is to promote excellence in both areas of school.

At least 2 principles of social impact planning would be used. The first being: achieving an extensive understanding of local and regional settings affected by the action or policy. This principle ensures that the program is designed in direct response to the real needs, challenges, and opportunities of the youth and communities it aims to serve. By understanding the local environment, Charmour FC can tailor “Kickstart Futures” to maximize its relevance and impact. The other principle is to focus on key elements of the human environment. The program would seek to address not only economic opportunity but also cultural attitudes, social cohesion, and community empowerment, all important elements of the human environment.

Ravens staff members and selected players would participate as guest speakers and mentors, helping students understand both sports-related and general professional career paths. The initiative would also include internship shadow days and scholarship opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in sports or business.
