It was such a joy and so satisfying to see the positive experience the kids in these classrooms were having being able to connect with other classrooms just a few doors down from them as well as ones around the world. Incorporating social media into the education system is still a new aspect of the game but is thriving so well in the short time since it’s been introduced.

Its amazing to see the idea that "the world is our classroom" begin to take over in more places. Being connected to more people in education is going to make a huge impact on everyone in the world's learning and social media is just the beginning.

It was really interesting to see how each one of these apps were used to benefit teachers. I knew the gist of most of these apps because I have an account with a few of these, but I never really thought about how teachers use this to aid their classrooms. What shocked me the most was the use of Twitter! Who would've ever known that this would've been so helpful to teachers and a way for them to connect and create their own PLN's. My favorite app out of all these that I will probably use as a teacher is Pintrest because of the DIY's that give you an idea that you can thrive off of or meshing two ideas together.

I love how these teachers have disregarded the notion that social media is a distraction, and are using it to create educational connections with other classrooms and teachers. This video really showed how we can use these apps to share our collective knowledge in order to make the classroom as productive as possible. Like anything else, social media is a tool, and it's effectiveness all depends on the user. If used well, social media can create a global educational community.

This video shows ways that Twitter can be used to reach out to others in ways that many people did not expect. I truly believed that social media can definitely be a good way to advance in the class, however, too much social media can sometimes be distracting. By using Twitter, educators across the country are able to connect and assist each other in creating interactive lessons. It is almost like looking on Pinterest for ideas. In my opinion, there are more pros than cons.

I think that using social media is an untapped avenue as a teacher resource. Having students use it and learn how to do so responsibly is key. I know that in the beginning of this type of venture it will take much monitoring, but it will be exciting to be able to tell a student yes... yes you can use twitter to research. Being able to keep engagement with your students while having them you the newest technology effectively and ethically is priceless!
