If a student complains about the class or professor, I respond by reminding them that accounting is very hard and a different type of learning. I keep it professional by steering the direction away from the professor and be personal by discussing how accounting in general was hard for me when I was going through the same courses.

I know how it feels to fail exam after putting many hours of studying in so don't feel alone, it happens to everyone! Take this as a learning opportunity to change your study methods, get ahead and don't cram, reach out to other resources like a different tutor, classmates, professor, etc. Also, grades are not everything and life will move on.

Taking the time to reinforce a student. I've had students come in saying that they are going to fail. As hard as some courses can be, the first step to passing is believing in your ability to learn. A student coming into a session saying "I'm going to fail Organic Chemistry" isn't going to be able to take the most from tutoring because they've already arrived at a conclusion. Taking a few minutes to connect with a student and bolster their self confidence can matter as much as reviewing the material.
