Do you really think that the trees can disengage themselves and shift into the forest? Justify the stand taken by the poetess?

It is practically impossible for trees to disengage themselves and shift into the forests. Its is really hard to be free, but the poetess is being optimistic. she is writing long letters inside her room but she is not describing how trees are struggling to come out of their artificial habitat, the habitat that has forced trees to stay imprisoned inside confined walls.. she describes that the roots of the trees are struggling all night to uproot themselves and plants themselves into the forest.they are still stumbling but marching forward victoriously towards the forest. Winds rush forward to welcome the victorious trees The forest sounds empty without the trees as mankind has uprooted all of them for the purpose of fulfilling their needs.. The birds have lost their homes, the insects have no shelter to lay down.
She describes that "The trees" are metaphors for nature itself.

-Anston

No, obviously not. Trees, unfortunately, dont have legs. The poet describes this situation of the trees and shows how they struggle to come out of their natural habitat and are in confined walls. The poet tries her best to publicly announce how the trees are struggling all night to uproot themselves.- Ahmed

No, it is impossible for trees to disengage and sift into a forest. The poetess probably refers to the trees as woman of older generations rising up to find equality and rights as this poet is referred to woman rights and feminism. The trees disengaging and shifting into forests are referred to as woman coming out of the houses where they were stereotypically placed and coming onto platforms for jobs and helping the society economically.

— karma

it is not possible for the trees to disengage themselves and shift into the forest . In the poem "the trees" the poetess refers the trees as women that have gone before us struggling and fighting against the laws and the myths made. For example women did not have the right to vote before and we can see the change drastically.... the myth made about them is that they are supposed to stay at home, take care of the house and the kids and be a typical house wife. She describes the trees as women because we keep the trees or plants confined between the four walls same as women. The forests sounds empty without the trees and it is same with the society as we can see the change brought up by women of different nations across the world.
DHRUV

no i dont think that its possible for the trees to disengage themselves and shift into the forest as they dont have legs to move. here in the poem “the trees” by Adrienne Rich uses trees as a metaphor for men, particularly struggling women. Nature, itself is represented by trees and forests in the poem. Man’s foolish and atrocious attempts to exploit, subdue, tame and control nature have led to disastrous results like deforestation. Forests have become empty. The futile attempt of humans to put trees and forests in the artificial glasshouses fails miserably. The trees, their roots, leaves, twigs and boughs wage a long and hard struggle to come out of the artificial barriers. Ultimately, the trees and forests reach where they should be. The victorious march of the trees to the forest tells the saga of nature’s victory over the onslaughts of man.

The liberation of the crushed and the women is based on the same theme. In a male-dominated society, women are struggling to come out of the clutches of men to gain freedom. It is hoped that like the trees in the poem, they will be liberated in the end.
-princess

In the poem 'The trees' ,the poetess refers to the trees as women that have struggled and fought against the laws. For example: Previously women did not have the right to vote...but there has been a visible change. Adrienne rich describes the trees as women to show that the trees are also kept confined between the four walls. Any forest around the world doesn't seem complete without trees being present over there.

Only in fairy tales, only in the imagination do trees move. The Trees is a short symbolic poem that focuses on the movement of trees that are at the beginning indoors but seeking to escape to freedom in the forest. The trees represent nature but also the nature of being - womanhood in particular. In the first two stanzas there is a definite attachment as the speaker specifically describes the escape of the trees to their new environment.

-Zeeshan
10 B

The poet talks about trees symbolically. They refer to women who have been healed and are ready to move out of their houses to fulfil their primary purpose - to renew the forest of mankind. As women have remained indoors, the forest has become empty, the birds and insects rendered shelterless. The Sun’s rays do not have the tree trucks and leaves to fall upon and thus, reach the earth.

Nadeem
10 B
