We need to deliver high quality content and assess their understanding. In my opinion the NSD grading policy isn't aligned because the data is skewed. The traditional standards have shifted and proficiency is far below the previous standard.

A lot of student and teacher evaluation seems to revolve around GPA. Why don't we mix in some standardized testing? The quality of the student and the teacher should be measured by standardized tests and not GPA.

Grading Floor

I hear a lot of complaints surrounding the grading floor, but right now our contract has it set at 40%. I understand wanting to change this in the future, but as of right now and through the following school year, it is set at 40%. I feel like continuing to harp on this is a waste of time.

If we do return to allowing 0% for assignments, how will that impact our students GPA's vs surrounding districts when they apply for colleges? Or is this something we don't care as much about in trying to prepare students for high school and beyond?

It's tough when I look up a student's grade and they are earning an A in class that they have only completed 1 or 2 assignments out of MANY. What job will award a paycheck to someone who only does some of the work?
