One issue impacting our country today are book bans. Book bans are when a person in power hears complaints from adults and bans certain books for young audiences. This has been happening for years and the only ones who are really suffering are the kids. Kids are being affected by this issue. They are being put down for who they are and what they like.

Kids in the Pride Community Impacted

This shows how many LGBTQ books are being banned only because they have same gender romance in them or topics adults think kids should not be exposed to even though many kids are LGBTQ. Banning these books makes kids who are part of the pride community feel singled out and insecure about their identity and/or gender.

This shows how a lot of banned books are being pushed out of public school libraries because parents are upset by the content in the books kids are reading. Librarians are standing up for, and defending the kids, and explaining the importance of the books, but parents are getting mad. What the parents don’t realize is they are actually just hurting their own kid, not protecting them.

Holocaust Books

This shows many very important issues involving history are being banned from middle school and even high school libraries. Parents think that kids aren’t old enough to read about such deep and serious topics, but they need the education to learn about the mistakes of the past so history doesn't repeat itself.

Getting the Word Out

This is a picture of a big speech. I believe that a big speech and working hard to get the word out that book bans only bring pain. The idea of a book ban is sexist and racist. Talking to big crowds is a very efficient method of getting opinions out into the world around you.

Making the Issue Forever Impactful

This is a picture of a newspaper. Newspapers can last a long time, you can write a lot on a newspaper, keep it to remember and re-read. Newspapers hold lots of information and if the book banning issue is on the front cover, it will draw a lot more attention. If the right people read the newspaper, there will be a lot more progress when it comes to solving this issue.
