The curtained sleep. Witchcraft celebrates

Pale Hecate’s offerings, and wither murder” II.I 50-52
Now half of the world is asleep and being plagued and deceived by the evil nightmares. The witches are offering sacrifices to their goddess Hecate. (The goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night moon, ghosts and necromancy)- Her magic is weak during the daytime and strongest at night

Treating this goddess as the leader/ruler of the three witches. Foreshadowing the appearance of Hecate? As she seems to be in charge of the three witches. The three witches are not as powerful as the goddess. 

As for the sacrifices, who are they? The witches seem to like meddling in Macbeths life and interfering with his life. Is the death of Ducan treated as a sacrifice the goddess? Is Macbeth using the goddess as a reason of supposed sacrifice?

Banquo says this to Macbeth, hinting that what the witches are saying might be true to a certain degree. If what is happening to Macbeth is being foreshadowed by the witches then they must be used and an predictor of the future.

He also knows that Duncan serves as a good and loyal king, “Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been,So clear in his great office”, yet he is still considering to murder Duncan based on the witches’ drives and his own desires to be the King as “[he] have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself And falls on th' other.” I.vii. 25-28 

Showing how manipulative and evil the witches are because they jumpstarted the evil intentions of Macbeth.

Connections of Evidence for Act 2 Scene 4
"And yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp.
Is't night's predominance, or the day's shame, that darkness does face the death entomb
When living light should kiss it?". II.iiii 8-10

The traveling lamp refers to the sun, and the dark overpowers it. This goes with idea of the darkness plaguing in the story and Macbeths character, as he become more morally corrupt due to internal desirers started instigated by the witches.


 'Tis unnatural,
Even like the deed that’s done. On Tuesday last,
A falcon, tow'ring in her pride of place,
Was by a mousing owl hawked at and killed.  II.iiii 10-13

And Duncan’s horses—a thing most strange and certain—
Beauteous and swift, the minions of their race,
Turned wild in nature, broke their stalls, flung out,
Contending 'gainst obedience, as they would
Make war with mankind.

 'Tis said they eat each other. II.iiii 14-17

These few quotes all refer to to all the weird or supernatural things that occur. Its like the world has been flipped upside down, much like how Macbeth as a chapter changes over time. From a person that is loyal to a corrupt human that only desires to be king and will murder to achieve his goals.
