You could check out Dorothea's side of the story in Taylor's other song, "'tis the season." Even though their relationship is a little rocky, this song shows that the narrator still loves and wishes the brightest future for Dorothea even though that future won't have them in the picture. I recommend this song because it's fun, nostalgic, and light-hearted. When listening to it, I always come to this mindset that it's a dear friend of mine singing this to me and asking how I've been and that somehow gives me a comforting feeling.
